Dana for Kittens

Sangha member Julie Bennett, AKA Jules, loves all animals and wanted to do something to help with helpless and homeless pets. Now, she's a foster mom to several kittens, who are sharing a home with her and her three dogs until they find their forever homes.

"The dogs absolutely love having kittens in the house!" Julie said. "They are so cute and gentle with the babies."

Acarasiddhi Featured Poet in Pacifica Reading

At Florey’s Book Company in Pacifica in late May, Acarasiddhi’s poems were featured in a reading hosted by Pacifica poet Sherri Rose-Walker and storeowner Aaron Schlieve. The coastal town, balmy weather, and kind hosts created a warm setting for the reading.

Acarasiddhi and Belmont Poet Laureate Jacki Rigon were the featured readers, and they were followed by an open mic, a chance to mingle, and opportunities to buy books. During a light moment at the end of the event, Rose-Walker awarded the featured readers with Poetic License certificates.

"The Land" is now Dharmadhara

At a special sangha gathering on March 5th, the San Francisco Buddhist Center announced that our five-acre property formerly known as “The Land” has been named “Dharmadhara,” which means Dharma mountain.

Dharma: The path of practice taught by the Buddha

Dhara: Holding, bearing, carrying, wearing, possessing, having, keeping (also in memory), sustaining, preserving, observing, and by extension or example it can be the earth, a mountain, a womb, or a mass of gold or heaps of valuables (representing the earth).
