Drop in Introduction to Buddhist Meditation

Thursdays 6pm to 7pm, in person

Class begins February 6 - check this page for program changes.

Join us every Thursday at 6 PM for a guided meditation session. Each week, we explore either Mindfulness of Breathing or Loving Kindness, along with practical tips on posture and other aspects of meditation. This class is perfect for complete beginners, those looking to refresh their practice, or anyone curious about what the SFBC has to offer.

Our Two Main Practices:

  • Mindfulness of Breathing
A beautifully simple yet profoundly transformative practice, where the sensations of breathing anchor our awareness in the body. This grounding helps us approach the events of daily life with greater spaciousness, clarity, and sensitivity.
  • Metta Bhavana (Cultivation of Loving Kindness)
A powerful practice that fosters friendly, kind, and curious attention toward ourselves, others, and whatever arises in our experience. It helps soften harsh self-criticism and judgment, bringing ease, openness, and warmth to our interactions and outlook.

Please arrive a few minutes before 6 PM. We look forward to welcoming you!

Suggested donation: $10.  Please check our safety requirements here.

All our teachers are volunteers and our class fees and donations all go towards keeping our center running so that we can continue to provide a space to practice.
