Please join us to watch and discuss "Nothing About Us Without Us", a special filmed Interview honoring Richard (Ricky) Gaines, founder of Returning Citizens Association.
This Oakland based organization is run by, and aims to support, people impacted by incarceration. Their work especially celebrates the contribution and resilience of communities who have been disproportionately affected by systemic injustice, highlighting the far reaching benefits of giving all returning citizens a voice and agency in their own rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
Nanasiri conducted and filmed the interview earlier this month. When she got to know Ricky through her work she was deeply inspired by his story, and enthusiastic to share it with us. We're delighted to announce that Ricky is available to be there in person, to answer any questions about his amazing work, so it promises to be a doubly engaging and enjoyable evening.
All donations from February Sangha Nights will also go to this group to help support their work.
