Nanasiri

Nanasiri took her first meditation class in 1991 in San Francisco. She was looking for a buddhist community and was fortunate enough to find this one!  She became a mitra in 1995, around the time that the current shrine room was coming into being, and her ceremony was held in the SF Zen Center. Ordained in 2009 on a 3-month retreat in the beautiful and rugged Spanish mountains, her name means “she who is radiant with confident understanding.” In 2014 Nanasiri graduated from San Francisco State University with a masters in gerontological counseling. Since that time, she has worked as a behavioral health specialist in shelters for unhoused people and currently works as a social worker serving older adults with mental health concerns living in San Francisco. She lives with her husband, Rich, having been married for 20 years.
