Day Retreat: This Precious Life

Saturday, October 12, 10am to 4pm

A Day Retreat with Special Guest, Aryajaya, from the UK

What does Buddhist practice have to say about being human? Using the traditional Buddhist teaching of the Wheel of Life this day retreat will explore the advantages and opportunities of being in the mental states of the human realm. We'll meditate, reflect, discuss and maybe answer the question by the poet Mary Oliver, 'What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious human life?'

Aryajaya is the current International Order Convenor for the Triratna Buddhist Community, taking over from Parami in 2018.  Her work is to connect and deepen the Order worldwide in many, varied ways. She moved to the UK from Australia in 2000 to participate in Triratna's team based business Windhorse Evolution and the ordination process. Ordained in 2006 she continued to work at Evolution until the closure in 2015. She enjoyed the challenge of creating an ethical working environment and community in a commercial setting. She now lives at Adhisthana and enjoys meditation, the mythic realm, yoga and wild swimming.  Her name means Noble Victory.
