We wish to acknowledge that Dharmadhara meditation center exists on the occupied territory of Southeastern Pomo and Lake Miwok (Me-wuk) Indian land.
The Pomo tribes that live in Lake county are still here and contributing to making the world a better place. These 6 tribes, the Elem Indian colony, Habematolel of Upper Lake, Robinson, Scotts Valley, Big Valley, and Middletown Rancherias are federally recognized and are Nations within the United States of America.
There is so much happening in Indian country that non-natives rarely think about. One of the most inspiring actions happening among Native Tribes across the country is their approach to conservation and environmental stewardship. Using ancient practices that benefit the health of the land, they can teach us about repairing our relationship with it.
We wish to honor the wisdom of Native elders, past, present, and future.
