Sangha Night: The Life of Objects - Fall in Love with Life Again

with Vajradarshini

3 Wednesday evenings -

THE LIFE OF OBJECTS - FALL IN LOVE WITH LIFE AGAIN

“Everything I kept I wish I had given away, everything I’ve given away I wish I’d kept.”

— LOUISE BROOKS

19TH SEPT - BRINGING OBJECTS TO LIFE
26TH SEPT - A MUTUAL RELATIONSHIP
3RD OCT - EVERYDAY RITUAL OBJECTS

When we realise how much the world we live in is influenced by mind, we also discover that we can choose the kind of a world we want to live in.
When we realise that what we experience is not the ‘thing out there’ but our own perception, our relationship with things is suddenly changed. The teapot and the bowl are no longer separate from us, but intimately connected to us, even a part of us.

“Picking violets by the side of the road,
I forgot my begging bowl.
How sad you must be, my poor little bowl.”

— RYOKAN

This Sangha Night Series is part of our Urban Retreat: Dharma meets Art, with Vajradarshini

“Our meditation doesn't stay on the cushion. We are a studio and a laboratory, testing new ways to view life. Evoking curiosity and playfulness. Looking for meaning. Finding beauty.”

We are very happy that Vajradarshini will be back after many years to lead 3 weeks of urban retreat: Sep 17 to Oct 7. The retreat includes a Day Retreat Saturday Sep 22 (sign up here) and a residential retreat for members of the SFBC core sangha Sep 28 to 20 (sign up here).

Vajradarshini has been teaching and leading retreats since 1997. “In all that time the aspect of practice that I loved the most was bringing the Buddhist teachings together with art. Something would happen, the art illuminated the dharma and the dharma illuminated the art.” She currently lives in Sweden.
