Special Sangha Night: the Magic of Bhutan

Magical, Mystical, Buddhist – this is Bhutan ! Come get a glimpse of what living in a Buddhist country governed by Buddhist values is like in this somewhat isolated country on the other side of the world. I had the opportunity to visit Bhutan recently and this Wednesday night will share some stories, chanting, and photos from my travels. I was surprised to experience a Buddhist practice that rang very similar to how we practice here in San Francisco. This felt like remembering our spiritual heritage as I was aware of Sangharakshita’s history in this part of the world when he was a young monk in Kalimpong, just a 6 hour drive away.
Viveka will also be here, fresh from leading a retreat on Padmasambhava, to say a few words about this mysterious figure who brought Buddhism to Bhutan.
This is our last Sangha night of 2025. Our Rainy Season Retreat begins Jan 7 2026.
