Sangha Nights in August - Mindfulness of the Buddha

Sangha Nights in August – Mindfulness of the Buddha

Practicing Dharma and Meditation in Community, Wednesdays, 7pm to 9pm, in person

What were the Buddha’s original teachings on mindfulness?

August 12 to September 2 (see special event August 5)

In these four weeks we will learn and practice mindfulness from the words of the Buddha, inspired by the Satipatthana Sutta. The Four Foundations of Mindfulness. This is one of the most influential meditation texts in Buddhism, and can support us to live with more embodied awareness, contentment and insight.

This offers an opportunity to deepen your understanding of mindfulness as an indispensable quality on your path to insight and liberation. You’ll learn how to bring awareness to your moment-by-moment experience and discover the “point of freedom”—the vital choice-point where you can pause, step outside of habitual reactivity, and turn your mind towards peace, clarity and understanding.

Through guided practice, reading the text, reflection and embodied presence, you’ll cultivate a deeper connection to your body, thoughts and emotions. You’ll learn how to stay grounded and relaxed even amid challenge, developing the capacity to meet life with wisdom and compassion.

Discover how mindfulness can be a radical act of love and awakening.

All led by Paramabodhi, who has been practicing, contemplating, and teaching from this sutta for 40 years in the UK and the USA at various centres. He is visiting from London and was resident in San Francisco for several years in the 90’s…
