Staying Real and Healthy as We Respond to Suffering
Urban Retreat, Saturday Nov 15 and Sunday Nov 16
Are you an activist or practitioner working on ways to stay grounded during challenging times? Join us for an immersive urban retreat to practice engaging with your body and the world in ways that often get overlooked or shut down in everyday life. All bodies & abilities are welcome!
The retreat is offered by the San Francisco Buddhist Center’s Green Sangha and guest teacher Dh. Tārāvajrī. Tārāvajrī is an Order member, somatic psychotherapist, registered dance movement therapist, and experienced authentic movement practitioner.
The retreat will be at the San Francisco Buddhist Center. Participants are invited to attend either the first day, or both days. Day two is only open to people who attended day one.
Day One: Exploring Movement as Dharma Practice
Saturday, November 15th from 10:00am – 4:00pm
Expressive movement, both with music and in silence, creates an invitation for emotion to find a channel without overwhelming us. The day will weave Buddhist mindfulness, positive emotion, and six elements practices with movement and art to help us cultivate integration and resilience.
Day Two: Practice in Motion
Sunday, November 16th from 1:00pm – 4:00pm
An opportunity to deepen our exploration of how expressive movement relates to Dharma and Buddhist practice.
