Bachata Workshop at the SFBC
Thursday June 25, 7:30pm to 9:30pm
Introduction to Bachata
A joyful alternative to sitting meditation!
We’re delighted to welcome Supernova for this special two-hour workshop – an all-levels introduction to bachata footwork and partner dancing, along with discussion of gender inclusivity, spoon theory, access needs, and trauma-informed dance practices.
More than just a dance class, this is an opportunity for community-building and finding joy through movement. Social dancing offers a unique way to connect without words through the lead-and-follow relationship, while building trust and practicing clear communication and consent on the dance floor.
Suitable for:
Anyone willing to learn!
Practice environment:
Please dress comfortably for dancing (workout clothes are not necessary). To help care for the meditation – and dance! – room, we ask that shoes not be worn inside. The SFBC is a drug- and alcohol-free space.
Registration:
Please register in advance – see below. The suggested donation is $25 to $35. Proceeds will be divided between the SFBC to support all our classes, and our guest instructor.
All donations support the running of the SFBC and help maintain a space for shared practice.
Care:
Please take care of yourself and others. If you are feeling unwell or have symptoms of a contagious illness, we ask that you do not attend.
Schedule / access:
Doors open 7:15pm and close at 7:30pm when the class begins.
