Special Winter Retreat

Sun Dec 20 to Sun Dec 27

Dates:
Sunday, December 20, 2020 - 3:00pm to Sunday, December 27, 2020 - 12:00pm

The time of the special winter retreat is approaching!

We ask that you arrive in the afternoon before dark on Sunday December 20th, and the retreat ends at 11 or noon Sunday December 27th.

Please read the information below carefully and contact me or Prasadachitta if you have any concerns or questions. If you are not able to attend please let us as soon as you can – but I hope you are able to!

Before the retreat

·      If you have any symptoms or consider yourself at increased risk* you should not attend.

·      All participants need to quarantine themselves for seven to fourteen days before the retreat. This means not participating in any kind of group activity and doing your best to stay away from anyone outside your cohort.

·      Participants will drive themselves to and from the retreat or drive only with their Pandemic cohort. (If you need to use GPS the address is 7730 Harrington Flat Road, Kelseyville, but it's a good idea to check the map before you go, since cell service can be spotty.)

Accommodation on the Retreat

·      The house at Dharmadhara will be clean and sanitized, and will be unoccupied for at least a week before you arrive – probably more.

·      You will have a private room.  We ask that you do not use the living room or other common spaces except for access.

·      Please bring your own bedding.  Pillows are available, but best to bring your own pillowcases, sheets, blankets etc.  A hot water bottle might be nice.

·      There will be a fridge outside the house on the walkway where you can keep milk for drinks.  Each room has water and an electric kettle.

·      Bathrooms in the main house will be assigned to the people staying there so that no more than two people will use each bathroom for the duration of the retreat.

·      People staying at the 8118 community (you know who you are!) will use the bathrooms there and will only use the compost toilet at Dharmadhara.

Food and Drink

·      Prasadachitta and Vimalamoksha will share food preparation and cleaning for those staying at Dharmadhara. Food will be simple, and will be plated and brought to participants to eat either in your rooms or outside.

·      If you have special requirements you may need to bring your own – you can check with Prasadachitta if you’re not sure.  Feel free to bring your own snacks, though some are available.

·      Please bring your own Cup and Water Bottle.

·      Coffee and teabags are provided.  If you prefer to bring your own coffee please bring pre-ground, or bring your own grinder.

Meditation

·      8 people can meditate together in the shrine room at a safe distance. Some people have already volunteered to meditate outside so there’s enough room for everyone.

·      Masks are required in the shrine room.

·      Cushions are provided as usual, plus chairs and blankets, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.

Emergencies

·      Please make sure the emergency contact information on your registration is up-to-date, or give it to the organizer as soon as you arrive.

·      Drew has offered to be the emergency contact in case your friends or relatives need to contact you – his number is: 415-377-4217.
