Topography of Dreams

Book Launch and Open Mic on zoom

Tuesday March 2, 7pm to 8pm on zoom

Join us to celebrate the publication of MJ Moore's new book of beautiful poems: Topography of Dreams.

After a brief introduction and a few questions from Acarasiddhi, MJ will read some of her poems for us. Then we'll open up to others to share poems or short prose (about 2 minutes each), before closing with another poem from MJ.

Mj is a Mitra at the SFBC, a poet, artist, teacher, mother, and many other things.

"Ranging from lush memories to direct insights, MJ Moore’s poems sweep across continents, life’s stages, the natural world. She invites us to join her in travels to Vietnam, to India, to desert border-crossings and more. In other poems, we find ourselves enjoying old grainy home movies, upstate New York’s apple markets, and the “velvet flames” of cello music. Along the way, her poems inspire, evoke, and encourage as they reach gently into the heart. Filled with clarity and startling perception, this collection is a treasure, each poem a pleasure to read and read again."

—   Tony Press (Acarasiddhi), Author of Crossing the Lines

MJ Moore has lived in Miami, Atlanta, Boston, and now the San Francisco Bay Area. Her various incarnations have included technical writer, environmental activist, farm apprentice, teacher, poet, Buddhist practitioner, wife and mother. Her odd collection of skills includes milking goats, driving a tractor, editing books on meditation and library format integration, directing first-grade plays, and chanting mantras in Pali. As a bicoastal being, she thrives on salt air, wind and waves, but also loves mountains and deserts. For her, poetry is a source of vision and joy, a way to engage the inner life of the heart and celebrate beauty in the world.
