Sangha Nights in June: Healing Energy
Wednesdays, 7pm to 9pm, in person only
Virya Paramita – the Perfection of Energy for the Good
We need to discover how to align our energy with what is truly meaningful—when we do that, effort becomes joyful and natural. ~ Sangharakshita
Continuing our Wednesday night theme, Hearts that Heal, in June we turn toward the healing power of the fourth Pāramitā on the Bodhisattva path: Vīrya Pāramitā — the perfection of energy.
Building on the foundations of Generosity, Ethics, and Patience, we’ll explore how to engage with life more wholeheartedly. What does it mean to align our energy with our deepest values? How can effort feel less like striving and more like an expression of love?
Through meditation, reflection, and shared practice, we’ll discover that true energy arises not from pressure or willpower, but from inspiration and connection—with ourselves, with others, and with what we hold most sacred.
June 4: Virya through Chanting, with Danamaya
We’ll experience how chanting can awaken energy—rousing or calming—through voice, breath, and collective rhythm, with just enough guidance to let the practice speak for itself.
June 11: Virya and Imagination, with Danamaya
Through reflection and shared stories, we’ll explore how imagination and positive narratives can energize our going for refuge—strengthening virya by envisioning what draws us forward, not just what we leave behind.
June 18: Celebrating Bri and a puja with Shunyamala
Our friend Bri is leaving for Chicago and tonight we’ll have the opportunity to rejoice in her qualities and let her know we’ll be thinking of her. We’ll end the evening with a traditional puja— celebrating the bright, brave heart of the Bodhisattva path and our own efforts to act with courage and kindness.
June 25: Karla, Cindi and friends invite you to an open meditation followed by tea and a chance to hang out and talk.
Everyone is welcome to Sangha Night
