SFBC ANNUAL RAINY SEASON RETREAT JANUARY 2021 

What is it? 

An opportunity for SFBC Core Sangha and occasional Order Members and Mitras visiting from around the world to spend time practicing together.  

Our theme for 2021 is "Healing Communication" and we will introduce the topic Jan 6 at Sangha Night, and Saturday Jan 9.

NEW - TUESDAY CHANTING

Join Danamaya, MJ and Claudia Tuesday Jan 19 8pm to 8:30pm for some pre-inauguration healing chanting.

WEDNESDAY SANGHA NIGHTS - open to Sangha and friends

Wednesdays Jan 6 to 27, 7pm to 9pm: Healing communication - stories from the Buddha’s Time

Jan 6 -  Prasadachitta - the four noble truths: suffering and the end of it. Recording.

Jan 13 - Danadasa - the Canki Sutta Recording

Jan 20 - Karunadevi -  the Therigatha - poems and teachings from Buddhist nuns

Jan 27 - Shunyamala - Healing communication - from then to now

 

WEEKDAY MEDITATIONS - for Core Sangha (mitras and order members) and meditating friends

Unguided meditations - bells at the beginning and end. (Contact Brad if you’d like to ring bells any of these times.)

7:30am to 8:10am Monday to Friday - feel free to invite your meditating family and friends to the morning session

Noon to 12:40pm Monday to Friday

6pm to 6:40pm Tuesday and Friday only

Wed Jan 13 at 10:30am Special addition - join Eva and the Paris Sangha for their meditation, and refuges and precepts in English and French. Link (following)

 

THURSDAY STUDY GROUPS - for Core Sangha (mitras and order members)

Danadasa is offering 4 weeks of study on the Canki Sutta for anyone interested.  

Thursdays Jan 7, 14, 21, 28: 6:30pm to 8pm.  Email Danadasa or the SFBC to sign up for this so we know how many group leaders we need. 

Here are two translations of the Sutta:  Bhikkhu Thanissaro and Dh. Sagaramati

 

SATURDAYS - for Core Sangha (mitras and order members)

January 9: 10am to 12: The healing energy of the heart

Pasadini will zoom in from Glasgow to lead this workshop. We'll explore in somatic, energetic and imaginal ways how to connect directly with what is in our hearts right now, touching into the healing energy and guidance available to us in the heart space.  

Some of you will remember Pasadini from San Francisco before she moved to Spain, then Dhanakosa Retreat Center in Scotland, and settled in Glasgow where she is a Mitra Convenor and teaches and leads retreats. 

January 16: 11am to 12:30: The Alchemical Heart, with Paramananda (this is not an SFBC event but part of a series we recommend dropping into, or you can take the whole series - Jan 15 to 21 - you will need to register separately - more information and registration here.)  

January 23: 10am to 12: Green Sangha Puja and discussion

January 30: 1pm to 3pm: Practice in the park, with zoom option, with Prasadachitta.

January 30: 9am to 11am: Welcoming Liberation 2021, international space for thriving BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) BAME (Black, Asian, Minority, Ethnic) Dharma and Community Connection

 

MONDAYS - GOING FOR REFUGE AND PROSTRATION PRACTICE, WITH KARUNADEVI - for Mitras in Ordination Training and Order Members

6:30pm to 8pm, practice and study, with Karunadevi, Padmatara and Danadasa
