Suvarnaprabha's Ordination

During a 7-week retreat in Tuscany, Italy, 21 women were ordained into the Western Buddhist Order. Retreatants came from England, Scotland, India, Australia, New Zealand, Holland, Finland, Sweden, and the United States.

Lisa Cullen, who had been practicing at the San Francisco Buddhist Center since 1992, received private ordination on October 1 and public ordination on October 7 (2001). Her new name is Suvarnaprabha (Soo-VAH-nah-PRAHB-ah) which is in Sanskrit and means Golden Light or Golden Radiance. Suvanna for short!
