The San Francisco Buddhist Center, located in San Francisco's Mission district, is part of the Triratna Buddhist Community (formerly called the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order or FWBO), a network of public centers, communities, ethical businesses, and social projects, in the UK, India, and many other countries.

At the heart of the Triratna Buddhist Community are ordained members of the Western Buddhist Order, made up of men and women of diverse backgrounds who have dedicated their lives to the practice of Buddhism. We are dedicated to supporting and encouraging the development of spiritual friendship among those who wish to experience the benefits of Buddhist practice and believe that it can make a constructive contribution to the modern world.

The Center provides a comprehensive program of classes and courses in Meditation and Buddhism, yoga classes, events for people of color, women, artists, and writers, as well as residential and non-residential retreats. For more information about these activities, see our calendar. We also have a few items on sale at our Center such as meditation supplies and books.
