Dayamudra

Dayamudra teaches Buddhism and meditation and co-leads retreats at the San Francisco Buddhist Center, as an active member of the Center's Teaching Kula. She is also a certified yoga teacher through The Integral Yoga Institute and Judith Laster's Restore and Renew. She is particularly interested in body-based approaches to understanding the mind and in how we can meet the suffering of the world with love and compassion, using Buddhist tools.

Dayamudra has led meditation and yoga retreats across The U.S., and in Mexico and Scotland. She has founded a non-profit organization based in south India, Jai Bhim International, where she serves as volunteer Creative Director, leading trainings for Dalit youth that combine Communicative English, academic mastery and meditation practice. She has also led workshops in Hungary, at The Jai Bhim Network, with a community of Gypsy Buddhists.

She has taught English as a Second Language around the world since 1991. In 2011 she was ordained into The Triratna Buddhist Order at The Akashavana Retreat Center in the Tarragon Mountains in Spain, where she was on retreat in community for three months. Her name means "Gesture of Compassion".
